What is your position at Accumet?
I am a Laser Welder. 

Have you held any positions within Accumet other than laser welding?
Yes, I've also worked in our lapping, polishing (pad and kiss), edge grinding and dicing departments.

What do you like most about working at Accumet?
I really enjoy helping others and I appreciate the opportunity to increase my skills and work on interesting projects. I'm looking forward to helping Accumet merging our two manufacturing facilities into one. I feel like as the company continues to grow there is a greater growth opportunity for me personally as well.  I love working at Accumet together as a team. I appreciate the chance to be a part of something greater than myself.

Tell us about your current role at Accumet. What does a typical day look like for you?
I start my day by configuring the CNC laser welding machine. Then I call up our ERP system to check on the welding priorities for the day and in particular the welding jobs assigned to my machine.  As an aside, I work on maintaining a clean work environment within the laser department. I check argon gas levels and replace it as necessary. 

What drew you to Accumet originally? And did that reason turn into a reality?
The management team at Accumet seemed like they were willing to listen to new ideas and there appeared to be a lot of room for advancement. Once I started working here, I really applied myself to learning my job as well as how my job interfaces with other departments. I have introduced some workflow processes which allowed my job to be more efficient. So far what I've wanted for both myself and the company has been a reality.  We are learning, improving processes and growing together.

Describe your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is when I am sharing my laser cutting knowledge and teaching others how to perform a task more efficiently. I like feeling like I'm helping both in terms of helping a co-worker and helping the company grow.

What is something you learned in the last week?
Not everyone will understand each other all the time, but it's OK. Not everything is meant to be understood at that moment. There's a time for everything.  All I can do sometimes is share my expertise and show that I care.

How would you describe the culture at Accumet?
There is a variety of personalities who work here. I feel like having this opportunity to work with such a variety of people has given me the chance to discover who I am. I believe that to become a successful person in life, you need to learn to respect and care for people as individuals – no matter their opinion. Just care.

Would you recommend working at Accumet and why?
Yes, I would recommend Accumet to anyone willing to learn a new job with the goal of turning it into a career because there is a lot of room for growth here.

What would you do as a career if you weren't doing this?
Anything that would have a positive influence on those who have struggled in life. To be a role model for the fallen ones and be of support to those who seek it. I like to help build confidence in individuals to enable a more successful tomorrow for everyone.
